Recently leaked transfer documents have revealed that Real Madrid's Gareth Bale is the most expensive footballer in the world. This follows speculations about Cristiano Ronaldo being regardede as the most expensive player in the world.Bale signed to Real Madrid from Manchester City in 2013.
The transfer document released by football leaks, shows that the total cost for Bale was actually €99,743.542, which at the 2013 exchange rate was £85,131,147, a sum higher that that of Cristiano Ronaldo, when he moved from Manchester United.

Daniel Amokachi seals 1-year deal to coach JS Hercules of Finland

Former Super Eagles coach, Daniel Amokachi, has secured a one-year deal to coach JS Hercules of Finland. A position which is required to take effect immediately. The Finnish second division side, on their official website on wednesday january, 20th, announced the hiring of former Super Eagles player, Amokachi as its new coach and the re-organization in their technical crew.

Sepp Blatter still receives $6 million salary despite ban from football

Despite being banned from world international football for eight years, Sepp Blatter will continue to receive his salary of $6 million dollars from FIFA until a new president is elected in late February; A FIFA spokesman confirmed to Reuters.

Blatter, along with Michel Platini, were handed an 8year ban from football by the FIFA ethics committee, over a $2 million conflict-of-interest payment FIFA made to Platini, that was approved by Blatter and is part of a swiss criminal investigation.

It was gathered that Blatter is set to receive 5months salary before February, this includes months for which he was FIFA president, when CAF president Issa Hayatou, served as FIFA president.

CHAN 2016: Super Eagles start with big win over Niger

The Nigeria home-based Super Eagles team, started their campaign at the African Nations Championship, CHAN 2016, on a winning note as they thrashed their West African neighbors Niger, 4-1, on Monday.
The game saw an uneventful first 45 minutes, but the pace was soon to change when Nigeria's Osas Okoro scored the 1st goal, barely 30 seconds into the second half. The goal was set up by Tunji Adeniji.
The othjer 3 goals recorded by the super eagles came off the boot of Abia Warriors striker Chisom Chikatara, who came in as a substitute for Adeniji.
This brace, sealed Nigeria's unconvincing win in the tournament.

AC Milan Sues Gambian footballer for claiming he's 19yrs old when he's actually 28

According to press reports released in Italy, Gambian footballer Yusupha Yaffa has been summoned after he allegedly lied about his age. The African forward was drafted into Milan's youth team, before moving on to earn a regular shirt for the club's under 19 side.
his true age was not to be noticed until social media reports pointed in that direction; this came by way of old schoolmates realizing the player had doctored his age on his Facebook profile, and it wasn't long before people started talking about the footballer's fraud.
According to Gazzetta dello sport, Yaffa claims he lost his documents on a number of occasions, and when he arrived at the immigration office in 2009 in italy, he claimed he was born on the 31st of December 1996, instead of the 14th of November 1987.
This is actually nit the first time Yaffa, will be having dealings with the law,in january 2005, soon after his arrival from Frankfurt, he was accused of raping a girl and was subsequently arrested.
the player has however come out to claim his innocence, during his trial, a number of fiormer trainers and coaches from Milan, including Fillipo Inzaghi, will be present.
It will therefore be interesting to know how possible this player was able to deceive one of the greatest football clubs in history.

Nigeria's Sport Minister, Solomon Dalung, today paid a visit to the national team while they are in Rwanda. The minister, is there to cheer the team on and also render his support and that of the sports ministry at large ahead of their match against Niger Republic in the ongoing African Nations Championship in Rwanda.

Legendary Coach Sir Alex Ferguson to return to Man Utd, if LVG is sacked

Former  Coach and all time favourite Man Utd Coach, Sir Alex Ferguson will return to the Manchester side if Louis van Gaal is sacked and Assistant manager Ryan Giggs is given the mantle of coaching the club.

Giggs who is Ferguson's protege, and have a long standing relationship and closeness to the former manager, will not hesitate to ask Ferguson for help if appointed as head coach.

As reported in the story ;

“If Giggs does not take charge before the end fof the season, as he did when moyes was sacked in 2014, he would ask for Ferguson’s help in the closing months of the campaign, and possible beyond.”

It is however uncertain whether the Ferguson story is true or not, but one thing is certain however, the fact that LVG seems to walking on a tight rope at the moment, as the club is on the 6^th position, and there appears to be several indications that Utd might not qualify for Champions League next season.

Luiz Suarez was Barcelona’s second choice ; Barca’s former sporting director, drops the bombshell

Luiz Suarez, who has been a major catalyst in the title race for Barca this season, has been classified as a second choice option during the transfer window that brought him to Nou Camp.

His arrival sparked one of the greatest single-season trophy hauls in European Football History, but Barcelona’s former sporting director has revealed that Suarez wasn’t even the club’s first choice transfer target.

The Uruguayan was signed from Liverpool for $160 million in July 2014. Andoni  Zubizarreta, the club’s former director of sports has however revealed that Suarez was only brought to the club as a second option when the club failed to reach the club’s initial number one target. He further revealed that Suarez was signed when the club failed to gain Aguero, as talks with Manchester City over the player broke down.

It is tough to say that Barcelona today are disappointed with their signing of Suarez, as he has been very instrumental to the success story of the side ; winning five trophies in 18 months, and scoring 54 goals in 72 matches across all competitions since his arrival.

EPL WEEKEND : Wins for Utd and City, as Arsenal were held to a goalless draw at the Britania stadium

The EPL weekend saw Wins for Man Utd, who edged past Liverpool in a one goal win with a brace from Wayne Rooney. City effortlessly edged past Crystal Palace in a 4 goals thumping, while Arsenal were held to a goalless draw at Stoke. Other Winners over the weekend includes ; Tottenham, Newcastle and Southampton. Chelsea were also held to a draw at Everton, a match that recorded 6 goals, 3 goals a-piece for each side.

The past year 2015, was a spectacular year that saw Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic dominating the tennis arena, with Serena ending the year as WTA number 1.

Both Serena and Djokovic won three major titles, with Williams coming within two victories of becoming the first player since Steffi Graf in 1988 to achieve the calendar year grand slam. However Djokovic thrumped Serena’s record by plat=ying in all four grand slam finals in the year.

The question here, however is will they also dominate this year’s ATP and WTA championships?

Mohamed Elneny completes move to Arsenal from Basel

 

Arsenal has secured their first signing of the January transfer window, by completing a deal for Mohamed Elneny.

The 23-year-old was in London on Wednesday to complete the formalities for his move to the North London side. Elneny , who plays for FC Basel, signed a four-and-a-half year contract with Arsenal. He has undergone all formalities including completing the required medicals.

Arsene Wenger, the Gunners coach, comfirmed after the Liverpool clash, that the deal for Elneny has been completed and hopes that the player will be available for the super Sunday clash with stoke city at the Britania stadium.

Liverpool vs Arsenal: Liverpool Fight back to earn a point in a six goal thriller

It was indeed a spectacular night in the English premier league, when Arsenal were hosted by Liverpool at Anfield. What seemed to be a highly contended match, ended up not disappointing in every bit of the word.

It was an exciting encounter with both teams competing to earn the maximum 3 points required.

Arsenal came to be the team with the leading advantage, with Olivier Giroud's second-half strike - his second of the night and 18th of the season - looked to have put the Gunners on course for a crucial victory.

Roberto Firmino twice gave Liverpool the lead in a breathless first half, the second a spectacular 20-yard drive, but Arsenal took advantage of poor defending from Jurgen Klopp's side to level through Aaron Ramsey and Giroud.

Substitute Allen rewarded the hosts for a display bursting with energy and spirit with a low 90th-minute finish, drawing the game to a 3-3 closure with both teams salvaging a point each.

With this brace, the Gunners, are still clear at the top of the table, leading with goal 3 goals difference against the wonder team of the season Leicester City, who have showed their strength so far in the league. Liverpool, are however 9^th position on the table.

The 2016 Fifa ballon D'or is scheduled to hold tonight at the Fifa headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. The event is the highest awarding recognition in the football sphere. It recognizes the best talents paraded all year round in the game of football.
In the race this year, are Argentina and Barcelona striker Lionel Messi, Portugese and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and a first timer, Brazil and Barcelona's Neymar.
Lionel Messi, is targeting his unprecedented 5th ballon d'or title, with Cristiano Ronaldo equally targeting his 4th ballon d'or title.
The question however lies on who is the favourite to win the title.
