US Opens : Serena Advances To Quarter Finals, As Venus Crashes Out

In what appeared to be a walk-over match for Serena, she defeated Kazakhstan's Yaroslav Shvedova 6-2 6-3, to hit a record 308th grand slam match win in Arthur Ashe Stadium court.
Serena played the match in just 68 minutes, and has succeeded in toppling Roger Federer's record on the all-time list of matches won at tennis's major events. Serena, will now face Romanian fifth seed Simona Halep in the quarter-final.
Meanwhile, Serena's sister Venus Williams, was beaten 4-6 6-4 7-6 by Karolina Pliskova, endidng any hope of the sisters facing each other in the competition.
