Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has said that it will be "a joke", if the club is slammed with a points deduction sanction. The current premier league leaders, may be hit with a points deduction, after being charged with player misconduct and behavior for the fifth time in 19 months.

Chelsea and Manchester City, have already been charged by the Football Association (FA), for failing to control their players over the mass brawl that ensued at the Etihad stadium last week, during the teams' premier league match. Although no Chelsea player was sent off, but the club is now faced with a possible points deduction as sanction. If the sanction is implemented, Chelsea, becomes the first top-flight team since 1990 to suffer a points deduction, after Arsenal and Manchester United, were punished following a brawl in 1990.

Chelsea's attitude, has been a cause for concern for the FA, after the club demonstrated similar behavior in May against Tottenham, during the London Derby. The FA panel, has come out to say that; the club will be docked if their players continued to misbehave.
Reacting to the panel's verdict, Conte, had this to say : "For me, if you are involved in a situation where you are not at fault, why must you pay ? I don't understand this. At the end of the Manchester City game, my players tried to keep their calm. It would be a joke (If the FA imposed such a punishment on this club). You must be honest and understand which team is at fault". Conte, said this after the team's 1-0 win over West Brom at home.
