Siasia Unhappy Over Late Arrival Of Foreign-based Players

Head coach of Nigeria's U-23 side, Samson Siasia, has expressed his anger over the failure of foreign-based players to report to camp early.
Siasia is currently preparing his team, towards the Suwon International tournament in South Korea, as the 2016 Olympics approaches.

Nine-time champion Rafael Nadal, eased through to the French Open second round with a crushing defeat of Australian Sam Groth.

BREAKING : Manchester United and Liverpool Fined For Europa League Incidents

A flare is lit during the match between Manchester United and LiverpoolManchester United and Liverpool have been fined by UEFA for "illicit chants" in their Europa League matches in March.
Both clubs have received £30,500 fines - half of which is suspended for two years - for the chants and have been given separate fines for a number of other offences.

Mourinho Won't Stay Long At Manchester United - Neville

The Portuguese is hot favorite to replace Louis Van Gaal, who just won the FA Cup last Saturday.

Barcelona Celebrates On The Streets After Wining La Liga

Barcelona, on Saturday, through a Luiz Suarez hat-trick, ensured they secured their second La Liga title in a row. 
To celebrate, they took to the streets of Barcelona city on Sunday night, where they were met with over 100,000 supporters. The win is Barca's 24th La Liga trophy.

Security Company Apologizes For Bomb Scare At Old Trafford

Old_Trafford_evacu_2866565nChristopher Reid, boss of Security Search Management & Solutions Ltd(SSM), the company that misplaced a package which forced Manchester United's game against Bournemouth to be called off, has admitted that the blunder could affect his business.
United have blamed the company for leaving a fake bomb training prop within the stadium, after they carried out safety drills last week.
Reid has apologized for the error, but was fearful for the future of his company.
"The mistake is entirely mine, I have to take full responsibility for leaving the items behind", the former police officer told reporters outside his residence on Monday.
"The firm is probably about to go into liquidation".

After 38 Matches, The EPL Season Comes To A Close


After 38 Matches, the English Premier League Season ended yesterday 15th May, 2016.
The final day of the season, saw Arsenal leap frogging to earn themselves a silverware, with a 2nd position in the league, after already relegated Newcastle United thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 5-1, in a final show of redemption.
Meanwhile, Manchester City played out a 1-1 draw with Swansea City in Wales, placing them just below Spurs, and earning themselves another season in the UEFA Champions League.

Murray Defeats Djokovic To Win Rome Masters

murrayAndy Murray, has won the Rome Masters, after beating world no. 1, Novak Djokovic in the final. The Scot triumphed 6-3 6-3, to claim his biggest clay court title ever. Murray becomes the first British player since 1931 to win the tournament in Italy.
Just one week ago, Djokovic defeated Murray in the final of the Madrid Masters, but Murray's victory will come as a boost to him seven days before the French Open.
Djokovic praised the 29-year-pld ; "Well-done Andy, You did a great job today. You were just too good".

Real Madrid Named World's Most Valuable Football Team By Forbes

Real Madrid has been named as the most valuable football club in the world according to Forbes magazine. The Spanish giants, have been valued at just under €3.2 billion and tops the list for the fourth year in a row.
The Champions League finalists are just ahead of Spanish rivals, Barcelona. Both teams and Manchester United are the only football teams in the world to be valued at over €3 billion.
Six Premier League teams made the top-ten of the list, with Manchester United and Arsenal in the top-five.

Messi Disappointed To Miss Out On 2016 Olympics

Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, has admitted he is disappointed to be left out of the 2016 Olympic Games squad of his country.
The Barcelona forward will instead play in the Copa America Centenario, as coach Gerardo Martino decided not to feature him for the Olympic Games.But Messi says he would have loved to play at the Olympics in Brazil.
"I would have liked to go because it was a spectacular experience for me to play at the 2008 Olympics, just as it was for the 2005 under-20 World Cup" Messi told ESPN. "Not just because we won, but for the experience I gained".
"It was a great experience to stay in the Olympic village and meet other elite atheletes from other sports and to be just another athelete amongst them. That was very spectacular even though we didn't spend a lot of time in the village".
"The World Cup is great but the Olympics is something special".

CAF Fines Nigeria, $5,000 For Stadium Overcrowding During AFCON Qualifier


Africa's ruling football body CAF, on Monday, May 9th fined the Nigerian Football Federation $5,000 for allowing it's stadium to be overcrowded during their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt in Kaduna in March, 2016.
The Kaduna State government has thrown open the doors of the venue for free in oredr to allow fans to watch the crucial AFCON qualifier match which ended 1-1.

Andy Murray Reaches Madrid Open Final After Beating Rafa Nadal

Murray recorded back-to-back wins over Nadal in the Spanish capitalDefending champion Andy Murray, marched into the final of the Madrid Open after defeating home favorite Rafa Nadal for the second successive year.
The British World No 2, ended Nadal's 13-match unbeaten run on clay after looking back to his best on his favoured surfaced with victories in Monte Carlo and Barcelona in recent weeks.
Murray sealed a devastating 7-5 6-4 success to send him through to Sunday's final where he will play Novak Djokovic.

Leicester City Lifts Premier League Trophy

Jamie Vardy scored twice as Leicester celebrated being crowned Premier League champions with a 
3-1 win against Everton at the King Power Stadium.
In a carnival atmosphere, opera legend Andrea Bocelli started the title party by singing before kick-off before Vardy sparked the festivities into life on the pitch, converting Andy King's cross in just the fifth minute.

John Terry, Eto'o To Attend Yobo's Testimonial

Rivers-SportsChelsea captain John Terry and former Barcelona striker, Samuel Eto'o, are expected to be part of Joseph Yobo's testimonial game on May 27.
The big names will join West Ham's trio of Alex Song, Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike, who have all confirmed their presence for the match.
Yobo, who won 100 caps for the Super Eagles, retired from International football after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Since making his debut for Nigeria in 2001, he went on to feature at three FIFA World Cups and six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, winning the continental competition in 2013.
His testimonial, tagged "The Joseph Yobo Centenary Game", will be played at the Amiesimaka International Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Madrid Derby UCL Final

Bale-Man City May2016Real Madrid defeated Manchester City 1-0, to qualify for the final of this season's Champions League, where they will face city rivals, Atletico Madrid.
Zinedine Zidane had Cristiano Ronaldo fit again for the semi-final second leg clash at the Santiago Bernabeu, but it was Gareth Bale's effort which was deflected off Fernando for the only goal of the game.
Real will be hoping to claim the club's 11th European crown at the San Siro on May 28th. It will also be a repeat of the 2014 final at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal, which Real won 4-1 in extra time play.
Atletico qualified on away goals, after losing 2-1 to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.

FA Charges Chelsea, Tottenham Following Fiesty London Derby

The Football Association (FA), has charged Chelsea and Tottenham, with three breaches of failing to control their players during their Premier League clash on Monday.
Eden Hazard scored in the last minute of the match to ensure Chelsea drew 2-2 with Spurs, a result that crowned Leicester City the new champions of England. However, the Derby was fraught with many ugly incidents and many bookings.
Both clubs have until 6pm, May 9th to respond to the charges.
Spurs midfielder, Mousa Dembele has also been charged for an alleged act of violent conduct. He has until 6pm May 5th to respond to the charge.

Amir Khan Not Interested In Fighting Mayweather

Mayweather retired last year, after equaling Rocky Marciano's 49-0 record with a win over Andre Berto in September, but hinted at a comeback when he attended Badou Jack's fight against Lucian Bute on Sunday.

Olympic Torch Arrives Brazil Ahead of Rio 2016 Games

The Olympic torch flame has arrived Brazil this morning for the start of a torch relay that will culminate with the opening ceremony of the Olymoic Games in Rio in August. The torch was flown inside a small lantern on a special flight from the Swiss city of Geneva to Brazil, and was lit by embattled President Dilma Rousseff.
President Rousseff who might not last till the beginging of the games as president said, 'Brazil us ready to host the most successful Olympics in history'.
Brazilian football stars like Kaka, Lucio, and a host of athletes were present and endorsed the Rio Olympic Torch's arrival.

Champions League: Atletico Lose At Bayern, Qualify For Champions League Final

Diego Simione's men were beaten 2-1 at the Allianz Arena by Bayern Munich, but qualified on away goal rule, after they won 1-0 at the Vincente Calderon last week.
Xabi Alonso's free-kick was deflected in, as Bayern levelled the tie on aggregate. Thomas Muller failed to give his side the advantsage from the spot, as the excellent Jan Oblack pushed away his penalty.
Fernando Torres fed the sprinting Antoine Griezmann and made no mistakes when a one-on-one chance with Manuel Neuer to make it 1-1.
Robert Lewandowski headed it to make it 2-1 and Torres also saw his penalty saved, as Bayern bowed out in the final four again.
Atletico now face with city rivals Real Madrid or Manchester City in Milan.

2016 Olympic Games : FIFA Snubs Nigerian Referees

football-spray-refereeThe World football governing body, FIFA did not pick any Nigerian referee to officiate at the 2016 Olympic football tournament, which kicks off in August.
88 match officials from over 40 countries have been name by the FIFA Referees Committee, and surprisingly no Nigerian Referee was named by the committee.
The men's competition will see 18 referees and 32 assistant referees, while there will be 14 referees and 24 assistant referees on duty for the women events.
There will be four African referees at the competition: 
Kwimbira Bernadettar (Malawai)
Camara Dhibril (Senegal)
Samba El Hadji Malick (Senegal) 
Ahmed Waleed (Sudan)
The Olympic football event will take place from August 3 to 21, 2016.

Federer Pulls Out Of Madrid Masters

17-time Grand Slam winner, Roger Federer, has been forced to withdraw from the Madrid Masters on Monday with a back problem.
The Swiss remains optimistic he would recover in time, to feature in the Rome AMsters next week, as he continues to prepare for the French Open.
"There's no feeling that I can practice so as to pint I don't want to take more chances, as I know I won't be fully ready for Wednesday", he said.
"I want to play it safe, rest up and get ready for Rome, that's the schedule now".
Federer took a late decision to play in Madrid, after missing almost three months of the season due to knee surgery.

Leicester City Confirmed As 2015/2016 Premier League Champions

The club's first top-flight championship in their 132-year history was sealed following Tottenham's 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Monday night, meaning they have an unassailable seven-point lead at the top of the table with two games left to play.
Claudio Ranieri's side missed the chance to claim the trophy on Sunday afternoon when they could only draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford- but they needed to wait just over 24 hours for their title glory to be sealed.

The Race For The Title : How Utd Delayed Leicester's Celebration

The Foxes needed a win at United to be confirmed champions, but conceded an early goal, after an unmarked Anthony Martial slammed the ball home at the near post.
However, Captain Wes Morgan headed in the equalizer shortly before the break.
The result leaves the Foxes to celebrate another day, If Tottenham Hotspur, fail to win at Stamford Bridge tonight, or they clinch it at home against Everton next weekend.
The result, also implies that Tottenham are back in the title race, and must break a leg and come out victorious again Chelsea tonight.
