Croatia stunned Spain last night to top Group D, after a dramatic 2-1 win. Alvaro Morata scored his third goal of the tournament to give Spain an early lead, but Nikola Kalinic of Croatia was soon to cancel it out and bring Croatia level before the break.
Sergio Ramos's penalty was saved, giving an opportunity for Ivan Perisic to score three minutes from stoppage time to give Croatia a victory. This result, leaves Spain finishing second and will play next against Italy in the Round of 16 on Monday, at the Stade de France.
For Germany, Mario Gomez was the hero of the match, as he scored the only goal, giving Germany the much needed edge and victory against Norther Ireland, in their final Group C match of the tournament. This result, means Germany finished top of the group table with 7 points. Poland are second after beating Ukraine 1-0 in Marseille, with Jakub Blaszczykowski scoring the goal.
Northern Ireland, after the result, are now placed third with just three points, and are hoping their goal difference of zero, will be enough to secure a place in the Round of 16.
