Lucas Silva Announces Retirement At 23, Due To Heart Problem

FBL-ESP-LIGA-REALMADRID-SILVAReal Madrid youngster, Lucas Silva has confirmed he has retired from football due to a heart problem. The 23-year-old Brazilian, who was on the verge of a move to Sporting Lisbon, but failed the medical test, announced his retirement via his official Instagram account this evening. He changed his bio to the quote - "I fought the good fight, I finished my career, I have kept the faith".

Silva was signed by Madrid for £10m in 2014, and was viewed as a long-term solution to their defensive midfield options. However, he struggled to break into the first-team, and was loaned out to Marseille. There, Silva also struggled to make a positive impression and the Ligue 1 club, were said to be "extremely disappointed" with his level of performances. 
With the player's announcement today, Real Madrid is sure to be rid of a player that they are not sure will positively impact the current team handled by coach Zinedine Zidane.
