Nigeria's Dream Team VI, fought off jet-lag to beat Japan 5-4 early this morning. The match which was played at 2am Nigeria time today, saw the Dream Team fighting off jetlag and winning against all odds. The team which arrived in Manaus Brazil seven hours before their opening Group B fixture, as a result of travel issues, put up an impressive performance to overcome the Asian champions.
Oghenekaro Etebo scored four goals for Nigeria, while AS Roma striker Sadiq Umar, also got on the score-sheet. The first half ended 3-2 in favor of the Africans, as they began to stamp their authority on the match, with the second half proving to be more advantageous for Nigeria, when Etebo made it 4-2 from the penalty spot, after the outstanding Umar was brought down inside the box, and a subsequent 4th goal for him in the 66th minute when he capitalized on a poor clearance by one of the Japanese defenders. Japan, was however able to pull two back through Arsenal boy, Takuma Asano and Musashi Suzuki.
Nigeria's next game is against Sweden, while Japan plays Colombia.
