Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has lashed out at the media due to claims of him being obsessed with Real Madrid. The Gabonese forward will be an integral part of Dortmund's new team, if he stays at the club next season, and they could be challenging Bayern Munich for Germany's top honors. 

Use of 4th Substitute During Extra Time From Quarter-Final Round In 2016/17 FA Cup

The FA, has announced that teams can now use a fourth substitute in extra-time from the quarter-final stages of this season's FA Cup. If a team has used three of their normal substitutions after 90 minutes, they will now be permitted to make one extra change if the scores are level at extra time. 

New Rules Announced Ahead Of EPL 2016/17 Season

A number of new laws, will come into force for the first time in the Premier League when the season kicks off on August 13th. The International Football Association Board (IFAB), announced more than 95 alterations to the laws of the game last season after 18 months of consultations, with many changes already trialed at Euro 2016. Below is an overview of some of the major amendments;

Roger Federer Out Of Rio Olympic Games

Roger Federer, has announced that he will miss next month's Olympic Games, after he underwent further rehabilitation on his knee. The Swiss tennis star, was hoping to add the Olympic singles gold to his impressive CV, but will not get a chance. Federer, who turns 35 on August 8th, released a statement on Tuesday, announcing the end of this year's season for him - "I'm extremely disappointed to announce that I will not be able to represent Switzerland at the Olympic Games in Rio, and that I will miss the remainder of the season" - he said. 

BREAKING NEWS : Higuain Joins Juventus

Gonzalo Higuain has completed his £75.3m move from Napoli to Juventus - according to Skysports Italy. The Argentine international, signed a four-year contract with the Serie A champions, valued at £6.3m per season. Higuain passed a medical in Madrid of Friday after Juventus agreed to pay the 28-year-old's full release clause - setting a record transfer fee for the Serie A. 

FIFA President Proposes Two More World Cup Slots For Africa

FIFA president, Gianni Infantino has said he is trying to lobby for Africa to get more spots at the World Cup. Infantino is proposing for the tournament to be expanded to 40 teams, eight more than the present 32 finalists. He is proposing 7 slots for the Africa continent. "I believe for the 2016 World Cup, we should have 40 teams, and out of the additional eight teams, we should have at least two more African teams " - Infantino said at a media briefing during his two-day working visit to Nigeria on Monday. " We are discussing this, and I hope I will be able to convince everyone as well on the proposal". 

Liverpool And Sevilla Fined Over Europa League Final Trouble

Liverpool and Sevilla, have both been fined over crowd trouble during the Europa League final match. Both clubs, were fined by UEFA over the behavior of their supporters during May's Europa League final, ranging from crowd disturbances, an illicit banner, and the setting-off of fireworks at Basel's St Jakob Park. 

Liverpool were fined 16,000 euros - around £13,400, and Sevilla 17,000 euros. Sevilla won the game 3-1, to claim a third successive Europa League title. 

Siasia Robbed In The US

Head coach of Nigeria's U-23 team, Samson Siasia, has been robbed in Atlanta, US, where he and the squad have been training ahead of next month's Olympic Games. When approached, Siasia had this to say - "It is true that my car was burgled but I have taken the necessary steps on the items stolen in the car"- Siasia confirmed to AfricanFootball.

Johanna Konta Wins First WTA Tour Title

Johanna Konta claimed her first WTA Tour title with a 7-5 5-7 6-2 win over Venus Williams at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford on Sunday. The British No 1, will rise to the 14th position in the world after sealing victory in two hours and 18 minutes, becoming the first British woman to win this title since Sue Barker in 1977. She had also beaten Williams at the Australian Open earlier in the season. 

Dalung Summons AFN, FEAD Staff Over Rio Ticket Scandal

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has summoned the Secretary, Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Mr Olumide Bamiduro and the ministry's staff of the Federation of Elite Athletes Department (FEAD), to explain the ticket scandal that rocked the social media over the weekend. A statement by the minister's special adviser on media, Nneka Anibeze, on Sunday in Lagos, read.

Manchester Derby Friendly In Beijing Called-Off

The first ever Manchester derby outside of England, has been called off due to bad pitch in Beijing. The International Champions Cup match between Manchester City and Manchester United has been called off because of the state of the pitch in Beijing. A statement on the United website confirmed what would have been the first Manchester derby outside the UK, has been postponed.

FIFA President To Visit Buhari On Monday

FIFA president, Gianni Infantrino, is expected in Nigeria this weekend, along with the Secretary General of the World football governing body, Ms Fatima Samba Samoura. Infantrino is scheduled to arrive on Sunday for a two-day working visit. He will be received at the Abuja Airport by the NFF president, Amaju Pinnick and members of the NFF board and management.

We Did Not Ask Them To Pay Their Fares To Rio - Dalung

Following the pleas instituted by Nigerian Athletes on social media, begging for funds from the Nigerian public to enable them pay their fares to the Rio Games, the minister of sports, Solomon Dalung, has come out to debunk the claims, stating that - "We did not write any mail asking the athletes to pay their way to Rio. Barcelona Seals A £41.7m Deal For Andre Gomes

Barcelona have confirmed that they have struck a deal with Valencia for Portugal Internatuonal, Andre Gomes. The fee for the 22-year-old is believed to be around £41.7m. Gomes, who was also a target signee for both Real Madrid and Manchester United, sealed the deal with Barcelona. "An Agreement will be signed, and the player will be presented as a new Barcelona player next week" - the club tweeted. Gomes, is expected to sign a five-year deal with the Nou Camp club.

Chelsea Confirms Kante's Move From Leicester City

Chelsea, have announced the signing of Leicester City midfielder, N'Golo kante, for a fee of about £32million. Kante, has signed a five-year contract with the Stamford Bridge club, and becomes the second signing for Chelsea this summer, after Michy Batshuayi from Marseille.

Portugal captain, and Real Madrid striker, Cristiano Ronaldo, has given out his Silver Boot award, to fellow team-mate, Luis Nani. The 31-year-old finished second behind Antoine Griezmann, as best player at the just concluded Euro 2016, but is clearly not interested in the prize.

Portugal Wins Euro 2016

Portugal, have won the Euro 2016 after Eder's superb extra-time strike gave them a 1-0 victory over hosts France in Paris, despite Cristiano Ronaldo coming injured in the first-half of the game. Substitute Eder, who came on as a late second-half replacement for Renato Sanches, struck low into the bottom corner past Hugo Lloris from 25 yards to hand Portugal their first-ever major tournament crown in dramatic fashion.

Cristiano Ronaldo who was forced off in the first half, leads the celebrations at the final whistle, as his tears of pain and anguish from earlier, were turned into tears of joy.

This year's win, makes it the 6th Wimbledon title, and 14th Grand Slam doubles title for the sisters, and their 22nd in 23 finals in all competition. 

Lucas Silva Announces Retirement At 23, Due To Heart Problem

Real Madrid youngster, Lucas Silva has confirmed he has retired from football due to a heart problem. The 23-year-old Brazilian, who was on the verge of a move to Sporting Lisbon, but failed the medical test, announced his retirement via his official Instagram account this evening. He changed his bio to the quote - "I fought the good fight, I finished my career, I have kept the faith".

Serena Equals Graf's Record Of 22 Grand Slam Titles

Serena Williams has equaled the Open era record of 22 Grand Slam titles, after winning the Wimbledon 2016 title against Germany's Angelique Kerber on Saturday. The American defeated Kerber, who is currently the No 4 ranked female tennis player in the World 7-5, 6-3. 

The win drew Serena level with Steffi Graf's historic milestone, and added to her number of Wimbledon titles, bringing it to 7, having successfully defended the title she won last year.
